On Wednesday 16 January our team visited Ġan Franġisk Abela Junior College at Msida. The Junior College is a higher secondary institution that prepares students for tertiary and higher education. Every year the College organises a careers fair. There was a week-long programme of activities aimed at helping the College’s students to explore various career paths before choosing higher education studies. Students could go around the different information stands in the foyer and also attend information sessions in the College hall.
MCAST had an information stand at the fair throughout the whole week. Wednesday was dedicated to the Centre for Maritime Studies and to the Institute of Applied Sciences. Eng Godwin Caruana with the help of Mr Julian Izzo promoted the ProCrew courses among students and lecturers at the College, providing information about career opportunities in the maritime sector to passers by, particularly about the Small Vessel Officers and Engineers routes, helping the students to understand better what careers are available, harnessing the increase in super yacht activity in Maltese marinas.
