On Tuesday 8 January, Engineer Godwin Caruana and Mr Julian Izzo, from the MCAST ProCrew team, visited . Here they met students who were interested to learn more about careers in the maritime industry, in particular the Small Vessel Officers and Engineers routes. The audience was made up of a group of highly interested fifteen and sixteen-year-old students.
During the interactive information session, the students were given an insight on opportunities available in the local and international maritime industry and the courses that they would have to take up to meet the IMO standards. Particular prominence was given to the new Pro Crew programmes which lead to various careers in the yachting industry, in the Deck, Engineering and Hospitality areas.
After this interactive session, various students approached us to ask more about these careers showing particular interest in the Marine Engineering route. This was the fourth such meeting which the MCAST team conducted in secondary schools. More sessions are planned in the very near future.
